Will a urine pregnancy test tell me if I am pregnant?
A urine pregnancy test is only an indication of pregnancy. It means that you are excreting pregnancy hormone (hCG). In order to verify a viable pregnancy, an ultrasound must be done.
Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound
Life Choices offers free Limited Obstetrical Ultrasounds to confirm a viable pregnancy. These ultrasounds are performed by trained and licensed medical professionals. They can tell you 3 things about your pregnancy:
- If your pregnancy is in your uterus
- If the baby has a heartbeat
- The gestational age of the baby (how far along you are)
These three things are vital to know before making a decision about your pregnancy. Our ultrasounds will not tell a patient the sex of the baby or if the baby has a birth defect. If a patient is seeking this information, she will need to be seen by her OBGYN for a diagnostic ultrasound.
Why do I need an ultrasound if I’ve already had a positive pregnancy test?
At Life Choices, we perform limited obstetrical ultrasounds. These ultrasounds can tell if the pregnancy is in your uterus or somewhere else (tubal or ectopic pregnancy), if the baby has a heartbeat (possible miscarriage), and the gestational age of the baby (how far along you are).
