Single Parenting

Single parenting is not a choice to be entered into lightly.  The counselors at Life Choices will come alongside you and help you see the future clearly.  What will it mean for you to be a parent?  Do you know?  Do you realize that it is important to make a plan for you and your baby?  It takes commitment and sacrifice to be a great parent, but the rewards of motherhood are forever.  Raising a child can be tough, but will make you stronger if you are willing to learn and love.

Ask your counselor to help you think through some questions.  Questions like:

  1. What will my future look like if I parent?
  2. Am I able to give my child what he/she needs?
  3. What financial resources do I have?
  4. What resources are out there to help me?
  5. Does the father of the baby have responsibilities?
  6. How will I pay for rent, utilities, diapers, food, medical expenses, etc.?
  7. Where do I plan to live?
  8. Do I expect my child to make me happy all of the time?
  9. How much time will I spend with my child?
  10. Can I still receive an education?

Being pregnant is stressful for any woman, but you may have some additional challenges because of your life circumstances.  Some girls have a strong support system and choose to parent their babies. Others don’t have support but muster up the courage to go it alone while seeking help from others and working hard.  Even if some of your choices in the past have led to painful consequences, you can start again with good choices for your life and change your future and your baby’s for the better.  Consider the pros and cons before you decide.  Let Life Choices help you do that
