Q: What does the word “paternity” mean?

Paternity is the legal word that means the father is the real father of the child.

Q: What if parents aren’t sure who the father is?
A:
Genetic tests can help determine whether a man is the father.

Q: When my child is born, don’t I receive the right as father?
A:
In the state of Tennessee, if you are not married when your child is born, your child does not have a legal father.

Q: How can a father bond with his baby?
A:
Hold and cuddle your baby.  A baby can determine a parent’s touch. Talk to your baby.  Your baby will quickly learn your voice and know that you are her daddy.  Be involved in the life of your child. 

Q: How can I learn about the responsibilities of being a father?
A:
